Particularities: Due to its aggressive behaviour, this species is not suited for keeping in a shared tank. When snapping its mandible shut, these ants can "propel themselves away" to a distance of up to 40cm. The shutting speed of the mandible ranges from 38-64m/s, making it the fastest known mechanism in the animal kingdom.
