Name: Lasius brunneus
Propagation: Europe
Queen: 7-8mm
Workers: 3-5mm
Food: Insects and honey water
Air moisture: 50-70%
Temperature: 20-30°C
Hibernation: Yes, from late October to late March at 5-8 ºC
Nest-building: Nests in moist decayed wood
Formicariums: Tank, farm tank
Formicarium size: min. 30x20cm (adjust to colony size)
Particularities: In the wild, this Lasius species nests mainly in decayed wood. Colonies can grow to very large sizes and be very dominant. Very easy-maintenance species. It is however worth using an effective anti-escape system. Lasius brunneus worker ants have a lovely dual colouring.
