Particularities: This is the largest Cataglyphis species in Europe. Colonies can reach up to about 5,000 animals in size. Can be kept at room temperature. Their legs are unusually long and allow them to move very fast. In their natural environment, they dwell mainly in steppes and semi-deserts. When running, they stretch their abdomen upwards. They burrow into sand in dog-like fashion.
