Particularities: Camponotus herculeanus is one of the largest ants to be found in Europe. It looks very similar to Camponotus ligniperdus, but is slightly darker in colour and less commonly found. These are mostly found in high-up mountain areas. These ants are as active during the daytime as they are at night-time.
